Diputació de València

Diputación de Valencia (DV) – the Valencia provincial council, is a public administration that works as a big town hall for 266 municipalities in the province of Valencia. It pays special attention to the smallest municipalities which represent 75 % of the total municipalities in the province. DV supports the municipalities preserving inter-regional balance and helps municipalities to cooperate and collaborate in the execution of local competences, especially those which can not be easily implemented with their own resources, such as waste management.

The Spanish Law 22/2011 on waste establishes that local authorities should provide as a mandatory service the collection, transportation and treatment of household waste, including bulky waste generated in private homes, shops, offices and services.

In the frame of the Urbanrec project DV is responsible for implementing technological advances to improve the daily management of bulky waste in municipalities in the region of Valencia. DV will further develop awareness campaigns to involve more than 12.000 citizens to improve bulky waste management.
