Welcome to the fourth newsletter of URBANREC

Discover the latest developments of the URBANREC project!

- URBANREC consortium had its latest meeting on 18 – 20 June 2018 in Bordeaux, France. the meeting was hosted by the French project partner RESCOLL who also organised a technical workshop with more than 200 registered participants focusing on bonding technologies and adhesives.

- So far, satisfactory results have been obtained and technical feasibility has been proven with some demonstrators such as foam samples, adhesives, needlefelts and wood-plastic composites (WPC). The remaining technical work is progressing well and will last until end November 2018.

- The more transversal work linked to economic and environmental analysis and the adaptation of the knowledge acquired within URBANREC to the 4 different regions is ongoing. Currently partners are compiling data and performing activities for the actual implementation in Bornova (Turkey), Flanders (Belgium), Valencia (Spain) and Warsaw (Poland).

- URBANREC consortium is actively promoting the project to different stakeholders. As an example, a video presenting the challenges of bulky waste management and the solutions proposed by the URBANREC project has been developed and can be viewed on our website.

- Within the special Working Group on legal issues, partners have discussed with external stakeholders and have gathered feedback on the legal barriers to market uptake of plastic materials recovered from bulky waste items. The main points will be included in the final recommendations for a European legislation on bulky waste.
