Adapting URBANREC results to the project’s regions

Regional partners (Valencia, Warsaw, Flanders and Bornova) aim to optimize bulky waste management in their regions by assessing the feasibility of incorporating innovative technologies developed within the URBANREC project. They are currently performing an evaluation of the efficiency and usefulness of the technologies and implementing adaptations according to the local context.

Regional partners started to work on bulky waste management system’s adaptation of URBANREC project results to their regions (Valencia, Warsaw, Flanders and Bornova). The aim is to optimize bulky waste management in these regions by assessing the feasibility of incorporating innovative technologies developed within the URBANREC project. At the end of the project partners will be able to provide technical evaluation reports for the implementation of URBANREC global management system in their regions and an evaluation of the efficiency and usefulness of the technologies.

BORNOVA is in charge of managing this work giving special attention on bulky waste by increasing awareness on re-use and recycle activities as well as the use of civic amenity sites (CAS) which will be operating soon. There are four main tasks to study in this work package.

As a first task of which IMOG is the leader, the aim is to complete a full technological, economic and functional report on the implementation of the fragmentation and CHGP technologies in IMOG, in order to valorize waste streams obtained from bulky waste. Previously, IMOG had additionally developed Customer portal and New Mobile application within the project.

In a second task, CONSORCIO’s focus is on improving collection system through the transfer of the results obtained by IMOG. Moreover, contact with social companies, charity organizations, art design schools and volunteering organizations will be established as a method to enhance re-use at Valencia level. Within this task, DV with “Social Media Campaigns” will be promoting the use of new app, portal service and electronic personal card to increase the use of municipal collection points in urban areas.

In a third task, city of Warsaw will be devoted to improve separation, collection and sorting. Additionally, feasibility of implementing fragmentation system and valorization routes will also be studied.

Finally, all four regions in are focusing on improving their capacity with the obtained final results and due to completion of deliverables within work package; assessments of different technologies will be ready to be studied in the global area.
